BCA-Industry Built Environment Building Specialist Sponsorship – Crane Operation Programme (BSS-COP)

What Is It?


The BCA-Industry Built Environment Building Specialist Sponsorship- Crane Operation Programme (BSS-COP) is offered by BCA, in collaboration with industry firms, to help firms to attract and retain locals in jobs at the higher value-adding trades in the built environment sector.

The BSS programme is structured in two development stage:


BSS-COP Stage 1



– The sponsor firm will provide employment to the sponsored employee for 2 years.

– The sponsor firm will pay a minimum basic monthly salary of $2,000 (tower/crawler crane) or $2,200 (mobile crane) in the first and second year to the sponsored employee.

– The sponsoring firm will provide the sponsored employee with BCA-approved crane training courses, a structured On-Job-Training (OJT) and an upgrading opportunity through value-adding courses.

– BCA will provide an incentive of $5,000 per year per sponsored employee, to the sponsor firm, subject to fulfilment of BSS programme terms and conditions.


BSS-COP Stage 2



– The sponsor firm will provide employment to the sponsored employee for 2 years. – The sponsor firm will pay a minimum basic monthly salary of $2,400 (tower/crawler crane) or $2,500 (mobile crane) in the first and second year to the sponsored employee. – The sponsoring firm will provide the sponsored employee with BCA-approved crossed crane training courses, a structured On-Job-Training (OJT). – BCA will provide an incentive of $5,000 per year per sponsored employee, to the sponsor firm, subject to fulfilment of BSS programme terms and conditions.


Note: For sponsored employees who direct entry in Stage 2, they must possess valid licence of a particular crane operation type with 2 years’ crane operating experience or licence which has expired for more than 3 years. BSS-COP will sponsored those licence expired to retake the licence. For candidate with valid crane licence will be crossed-trained and must be employed to operate the cross-trained crane type.


Who is it for?


Industry firms which are keen to sponsor:


Locals to become crane operator or experienced local crane operator who is willing to cross-train to other crane type. The list of crane training courses are shown below: – Tower Crane (Saddle Jib) Operation Course – Crawler Crane Operation Course – Mobile Crane (Truck Mounted) Operation Course – Luffing Jib Tower Crane Operation Course (value-adding course) – Signalman & Rigger Course (value-adding course) – Enhanced Tower Crane Operation Course for HDB Projects (value-adding course) – Bridging Courses For Crane Operators


How much?


Stage 1:

– The sponsor firm will pay a minimum basic monthly salary of $2,000 (tower/crawler crane) or $2,200 (mobile crane) in the first and second year to the sponsored employee. – The sponsor firm will enrol and co-sponsor (20% of course fees) the sponsored employee in BCA-approved training courses and assessments. – BCA will provide an incentive of $5,000 per year per sponsored employee, to the sponsor firm, subject to fulfilment of BSS programme terms and conditions.


Stage 2:

– The sponsor firm will pay a minimum basic monthly salary of $2,400 (tower/crawler crane) or $2,500 (mobile crane) in the first and second year to the sponsored employee. – The sponsor firm will enrol and co-sponsor (20% of course fees) the sponsored employee in BCA-approved training courses and assessments. – BCA will provide an incentive of $5,000 per year per sponsored employee, to the sponsor firm, subject to fulfilment of BSS programme terms and conditions.
